How to prepare for GRE Exam?

To achieve the desired goal of performing well on the GRE test one has to follow a good preparation strategy. GRE is typically considered more difficult than SAT and ACT because of more challenging vocabulary reading passages and the math problems require higher level thinking. But when we compare GRE to other graduate exams such as the GMAT, MCAT, and LSAT, the GRE is considered less difficult because of less specialized knowledge.

Like other exams, you are required to choose whether you want to study on your own or join a coaching center to prepare for the GRE exam. There are some newer methods also like online preparation that include both self-studying and coaching class methods.

Let's discuss the GRE question paper and the smart strategy to solve it: GRE question paper is divided into sections, the first section of the GRE is the Analytical Writing Assessment section. It consists of two tasks - an analysis of an issue task and an analysis of an argument task. To complete these tasks you will be given 30 minutes each. For this section, you must read and practice a lot of analytical non-fiction. Well, a balanced diet of reading material will provide good health to your GRE skills. After this section, two verbal reasoning, two quantitative, and an unidentified unscored section which may be either quantitative or verbal reasoning is there. For the quantitative section, you should practice a lot of questions to increase your speed and accuracy. You should join some test series also to polish your preparation and map your mistakes because students with less stamina risk low scores.

The total amount of time necessary for good GRE scores varies from person to person; all aspirants must develop a good command of the test. For this, you must prepare a structured study plan and stick to it.

Some areas may seem most challenging to you because of your very low interest in them or because you dislike them. Usually, people have to fight tooth and nail to get through some of the math topics. But figuring out your weaknesses will allow you to construct a balanced structure of study. Prepare your study plan such that it targets your weaknesses more effectively.

And the areas in which you are comfortable, increase your range of knowledge and skills by studying materials and resources that you find difficult and weighty rather than those that are easy for you.

Charting your performance and progress is very important because it will provide an overview of your score improvements and study techniques.

And last but not least trust your Gut instinct, because as long as you have done a good preparation, it’s GOOD to trust your instinct and carry forward with your intuitive choice during solving those questions where you can’t decide between two answers. Effective GRE preparation will make you more adaptable and intelligent.

If you follow the strategies mentioned above, your chances to crack the GRE exam would increase.
